Our Wedding Shots

James - Food Republic Suntec

Last Thursday, Dear accompanied me to the PC Show at Suntec Convention Centre to buy RAM for my new laptop. We came with another agenda on hand, which was to try the spanking new Book Republi...oops! i mean FOOD Republic!

Food Republic Suntec is the latest brain-child of the Breadtalk Group, the same people that brought you Breadtalk. Here's some additional trivia; they also hold the franchise rights for famous Taiwanese Xiao Long Bao restaurant, Din Tai Fung.

I'm really impressed with this concept that revolutionizes the way food courts look and operate, the decor is absolutely splendid! *thumbs up for the innovativeness!*
It gave customers the feeling that they were transported to a quaint little bookstore/library of sorts in a colonial era and surrounding you are shelves after shelves of ancient-looking books.
The only gripe though, was that the place was rather cramped and the food was only so-so.

Ok here's the pictures we took....

Here is the prawn noodles that Dear had, she felt that it was average, nothing spectacular, just your everyday run-of-the-mill prawn noodles you can get off the streets. I agree with her. It lacks OMMPH!! *PEOPLE! Do leave a tag on the tag board if you guys know of any good prawn noodles around!*

This is the Thunderrrrrrrrr Tea Rice (Lei Cha Fan) I had! Sounds damn fierce right?? This traditional Hakka cuisine is recommended by Dear, who is a Hakka girl.

She told me her Dad likes to eat this too and it has detoxification effects and is a very healthy and organic dish. It wasn't too bad, needed to chew alot *Boy, my tired jaws!* because it has lots of veggies, brown rice, peanuts and ikan bilis, it came with a hideous green soup as well, Oh boy, I took only 2 sips of that ghastly soup before I discarded it *urrrghh it gives me the shivers!* I reckon it contained green tea or some herbs? Because it tasted awefully bitter~ Accck!

*edited: after reading some food blogs, I realized that you're supposed to POUR the disgusting soup over the various ingredients in the bowl before starting to eat! GROOOSSSS!!!*

After the 'thunder' storm! tee hee hee *pun intended*

SHUDDERS!!

Food Republic is situated at the lobby of Suntec Convention Hall at the former location of Congress Kopitiam.

After lunch we went shopping! Dear bought some tops at Fox and I got my RAM at the PC show. We hung around for a while before making our way to church. Our church was having its annual Emerge! Youth Conference. We totally enjoyed ourselves and at the end, Pastor called for all the university students and Dear went forward to get prayed for.

Thanks for the great day Dear! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
